John and his family moved here from Pennsylvania, and in 1786, purchased 350 acres in what is now the New Victory Community. It is of interest that his six children married into three German families who came into Washington County between 1790 and 1796, thereby creating an ethnic flavor in this part of the county which is evident even today.1103
