Notes for John W. BURGESS
He traveled by wagon caravan with neighbors and relatives to Missouri and in 1845 moved to Ellis County, Texas, to farm and cattle ranch. In 1867 they settled in Grayson County. J.W. Burgess and A.R. Conner settled 487 acres of land together in Locust Community of the Joseph Strickland survey. Burgess had a cattle drive from Ellis County to Locust Community that took 5 months of hard travel and many difficulties. Sallie, his wife, owned 2 tracks of land in that same area.
