He was pastor at the Knob Noster Methodist Church between 1870 and 197383.328 He resigned his pastorate to accept a commission in the Union Army, where he commanded a company of cavalry. After the Civil War, he returned to Knob Noster as pastor of the Methodist Church were he preached with a brace of horse pistols in front of him in view of the strong southern feeling in Knob Noster.328
