Copied from two sheets of yellowed tablet paper found in Daniel Napoleon Saults’ strong box (given to Charles Lee Saults in Knob Noster, MO., by Charles F. Covey in November 1961 - then passed on to C.L. Saults’ son Dan Saults and later to Sam Matthews in November of 1998). All text written in square brackets has been added by the author. Written on 15 February 1878, in North Henderson, Illinois when D.N. Saults made a trip to McComb, IL looking for work. It was during this time that he visited his father and they wrote the family letter together.
